Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care

I would highly recommend not coming to this company for transmission work. They had our vehicle for over 3.5 weeks and it was not fixed. We took our vehicle elsewhere and got the work done in one week. I tried to get a refund of some kind. I went into the store and they asked why I didn't take it back and I told them I couldn't wait another 3 weeks to get it back. I have heard from multiple other mechanics in the area that Shawn cannot be trusted. Unfortunately, they are correct. I tried calling him multiple times, getting attitude from him once. He was never at the shop as he always had to "call in." This is written as a warning to anyone who would consider coming here. Please go somewhere else and get quality work done with honesty.

It took a while to change the entire transmission. But there were legitimate delays due to part availability. Once the parts were in the install was quick and I've not had any issues. Good people too. Update: 4/29/2026 - After about 6 months now the transmission is still running like a clock. No problems at all. Thank you Sean and Cottman Transmission!

UPDATE BELOW!! I had a great experience here. I got my entire transmission rebuilt due to it being in a flood. (Nissan Altima CVT Transmission) I did not rush the process. The work took about two weeks and I know have my car back for about 2 weeks and it’s runs brand new. THANK YOU!! Rob at the customer is amazing. Hes very polite and friends. He’s also a man of his word. Everything he said they were going to do, he made sure it got done. Without him, I probably wouldn’t have got my transmission rebuilt. I was on the verge of looking for a new car, but he convinced me that the mechanics at this location are very knowledgeable on what they’re doing and even gave me warranty on parts & labor. If any problems pops up down the line, I will update this review. I will update this review in 3 months on cars driving condition. 1 YEAR 6 MONTH UPDATE My Nissan is still running strong. No issues at all, the car shifts properly, picks up speed with no problems, i am so happy with the money I spent to fix the transmission. Anyone I know that has transmission problem. This is the place I send them too. THANK YOU!!!
